Goes, Comes Around

Here's a story for you: Roughly five years ago, I was at a small music festival in the Midwest with a group of friends. We arrived around lunch and grabbed some food. Most of the music at the festival was free save for a few stages that charged an additional admission fee in order to enter; sure, you could still hear the act from outside of the paid gate, but the experience simply wasn't as dynamic since you really couldn't see much of what was going on.

You could fill a journal each day with all of the little moments that touched you or made you smile or restored your faith in humanity. Never discount those moments, because they will always overwhelm the bad ones.

Don't Forget the Small Stuff

What? Isn't the saying supposed to be, "Don't sweat the small stuff." Maybe, but I'm talking about a different kind of "small stuff." The small stuff that you can do for a stranger that just might make their day; if nothing else, it'll give them something to smile about. The possibilities are endless: letting someone else ahead of you in line at the grocery store. Holding the door open for someone. Smiling and saying hello when you pass a person on the street. Waving a person through at the intersection instead of hastily plowing through yourself...these are just a few. Can you think of more? Can you see how the small stuff adds up into something much more significant?

Choosing

There was a certain man who had been experiencing a fair share of problems in his life; the economy had slowed and he lost his job. He was forced to collect unemployment, and since the compensation wasn't nearly as much as he made while working, he had to move into a more affordable apartment. He is an avid classic car collector, and even had to sell one of his prized vehicles.
